Project Description:

National Cooperative Agreement holder for the Public Housing Primary Care Program, North American Management is responsible for strengthening the capacity of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s grantee health centers in meeting the specialized primary health needs of public housing residents. These heath centers provide residents of public housing with access to comprehensive primary health care services through the direct provision of health promotion and disease prevention activities and primary health care services. Services are provided on the premises of a public housing development or at other locations immediately accessible to residents of public housing.

Training and technical assistance is provided to health centers in a number of ways. North American Management provides direct, one-on-one, onsite training and technical assistance for grantees in need of urgent financial or programmatic assistance. Training and technical assistance is also provided through webinar sessions and through telephone consultations.  

In addition, North American Management hosts three annual training conferences, including two regional training conferences and a national training conference which features over 35 sessions led by experts in the field. Finally, North American Management has developed, regularly updates and maintains an online resource center which includes a wide variety of tool kits, and examples of best practice programs and other resources for health centers. Some of the topics of these tool kits include: Developing a Community Health Worker Program, Partnering with Housing Authorities, Implementing the Care Model, and Conducting a Resident Needs Assessment.
